What is Loxicom?
Loxicom is a liquid form of the drug Meloxicam. Meloxicam is a prescription nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Why do dogs and cats use Loxicom?
If your dog or cat has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis or suffers from joint pain, your veterinarian may prescribe an NSAID such as Loxicom to reduce the associated pain and inflammation.
What else should I know about Loxicom?
Reduces joint pain and inflammation. Comes with a dosing syringe. Liquid for easy dosing. Can be mixed with food or given into the mouth. Your veterinarian may ask for routine blood tests to check for liver and kidney side effects. These follow-ups are very important.
What problems could my dog or cat have with Loxicom?
Serious, but rare, side effects of Meloxicam include ulcers and liver or kidney problems. These are more likely in cats. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you notice symptoms such as eating less than normal, vomiting, changes in bowel movements, changes in behaviour or activity, weakness, seizures, aggression, jaundice, changes in drinking, or changes in urination.
